Podcast Recording Resources
I’m a big fan of getting the audio out of “skype” so it has no ties to the internet. When your sound is tied into the internet you’re leaving yourself open for problems (and lower quality). So these options are in regard to that option (taking the audio off of your computer)
Mic to connect to computer
The mic sounds great and comes with everything you need. (you don’t even have to worry about cords)
Connect it to your computer and you’re Skype and Google Hangout audio will sound way better.
Lapel Mic (cheapest option)
Use this lapel connected to you iphone or computer and record it directly to WAV or MP3 format. Easy way to get a great quality sound.
Here’s a really basic example that I did a while back. – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uPJcQTtxdc&list=UUhaHVK_1Hha3VFkW_E_dYxA&index=14
Zoom H1
Handy little mic. All it needs is a micro SD card and you can record whatever you want wherever you want. Just make sure you have the levels right (not peaking and not to low) and have it sit no further than a foot away from the sound source.
Zoom H2n
This mic is similar to the H1 but has a few more features and is honestly a lot easier to use. This is what I use on a regular basis. Again make sure the levels are appropriate and you can record in a quite room. Keeping the sound source no further than a foot away.
If you can’t find a quite place check out the lapel mic. It will plug into any of these recorders and allows you to capture more voice and less of the background noise
Here’s an example of a basic episode that was recorded using the H2n (just on my side not the guest) – check it out
Iphone Microphone
If you want to record on the go this mic will definitely do the job. I was just using it the other day and it produced some great results.
Skype Call Recorder
Really simple tool to record audio and video from Skype. This is what most interview shows rely on for a high quality audio signal from Skype.
