At Just Hit Publish we’re passionate about helping podcasters bring radio quality sound to their podcast.
No matter your equipment (although it is very important) we can help your sound where ever you’re at. Audio editing is extremely important no matter where you’re at. It’s not just about throwing on an intro or outro. That’s just 10% off the process.
Let’s talk about Audio Podcast Editing
You might just be thinking about adding an intro and outro on to your interview or main portion. If that’s all you’re doing that’s where you’re falling short.
Better Flow
If you want to up the quality it’s about digging into the actually interview or content. Smoothing out the flow of conversations by removing awkward pauses and interruptions. Also, if you say umm just a few to many times we’ll take those out so your speech seems just a little more polished.
Get rid of the noise
You might be concerned about some outside noise, maybe some hiss, it’s something we deal with often when editing shows. Although you might have a great piece of audio – you still need to take a look at getting rid of any outside noises, (creaking chair, hitting the mic, dropping something on the floor) or some kind of hiss.
Processing
Another piece of the audio podcast editing process is the final processing. No podcast should be complete without customized processing to make sure. A software like Auphonic is great if you don’t have audio production experience or knowledge. But you really can’t replicate the art of bringing a piece of audio to life with the right post production processing.
When you add all of these small things up. Investing in high quality podcast editing can take the level of your show up a notch.

Let’s talk about the audio documentary (think public radio / This American Life) for podcast editing
We’re now working with some great podcasts to get them from typical interview or conversational show to presenting a topic from all sides and having a good entertaining flow. When you look at all of the top podcasts we see some of the best story telling and entertaining audio out there. It’s time business / marketing podcasts took a look at this formula and see what it can do for them.
At Just Hit Publish we’re doing just that.
(Check out an example)
Here’s a quick look at what the process can look like
Record an interview.
Transcribe all of the interview and post interview banter.
Review the script and determine 4 topic areas.
Found several other guests that could comment on those topics.
Transcribe those secondary interviews.
Put together a detailed script with all of the pieces.
Edit it all together, adding in music and making sure the conversation flows, taking out any awkward parts (umms ahhs)
I’m EXTREMELY excited about the potential with this kind of show. We’re bringing that public radio style, audio documentary to business and marketing education. If you’re interested in doing this for your show we would LOVE to have a conversation with you.
